Hifzul Qur’an Programme
Al Rushd Madrasah offers a comprehensive Hifz programme for the memorisation of Qur’an including a complete Islamic Studies subject. Structured learning targets are set from the start to aid students towards achieving this goal. Students are also taught advanced levels of Tajweed during their Hifz course. Memorising the Holy Qur’an holds immense reward in Islam and Huffaz hold a high status within the Muslim community and render a very important service in leading prayers, particularly during the month of Ramadan.

Due to the challenging nature of the regime that studying Hifz demands, it is important that students, parents and teachers are all satisfied and confident that it can be adhered to successfully. Hifz class is very challenging and requires far greater dedication and commitment. Hifz class demands mental strength and maturity in addition to having the ability. It is for this reason that we have a fairly rigorous admission procedure as listed below.
Admission Procedure:

- Initial application
- Admission test – includes recitation ability test, non-controlled memorisation trial and controlled memorisation workshop and test
- Induction for parents and students
- Probation period
Probation Period:
Admission into the Hifz programme is subject to assessment, admission is only granted if the student passes his/her assessment. This is to ensure that the student is capable of taking up the task of the Hifz course. The assessment is in the following order:
- A Nazarah (recitation) assessment. This is to assess the level of fluency in the Quran and application of Tajweed.
- A Hifz assessment lasting. The student will be given a ‘sabaq’ to learn every day.
- Further details of this assessment will be given in the induction meeting that will be held prior to the assessment. This one month assessment takes place as soon as the student has been allocated a place.
Please Note
- These assessments will take place during Madrasah hours.
- These assessments are conducted by a senior member of the Hifz team. A record will be kept of the daily progress.
- After the assessment period is over, we will have a meeting with each parent individually, informing them whether their child was successful or not.
- Tajweed plays a major part in the admission criteria. Where this is lacking, we will not admit the child into the Hifz programme.
- Parents must understand that the Head Teacher reserves the right to withdraw a student from the Hifz class in consultation with parents if he feels that adequate progress is not being made.
